Therapeutic Approach
I use a variety of approaches to address clients unique needs. It is my philosophy that successful counselling therapy plans utilise an eclectic approach based upon the foundation of Person Centred Therapy (PCT). This therapy modality fundamentally involves using a conversational style listening patiently to you, always with empathy, genuineness and without judgement – to help you find the solutions you desire for your life. I always encourage honest discussion and feedback within our sessions so I can adjust my style to fit what you need, as your needs may frequently change according to what is being discussed in each session.
In addition, I utilise where appropriate a psychoeducational focus with additional skills development, to support greater emotional regulation.
I can utilise many ‘Talk Therapy’ methods including:
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
- Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT)
- Gestalt Therapy
- Narrative Therapy
- Imaginal Exposure Therapy
- Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)
- Motivational Interviewing
Clients may also be supported through various Somatic Therapy (mind/body) modalities including:
- Brainspotting
- Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT Tapping)
- Trauma Sensitive Yoga
- Trauma Informed Yoga
- Sensory Enhanced Yoga for Emotional Regulation & Trauma Healing
- Yoga Nidra
- Mindfulness
- Meditation
- Pranayama Breathwork
By moving through a tailored therapy plan I can help you build and then sustain the growth experienced within, whilst in therapy.
Additionally, there is a growing body of research that supports the practice of self-compassion and mindfulness in psychotherapy. Neuroscience research reveals individuals that practice these techniques are happier, more resilient, and better equipped to heal painful memories from the past. It is my honour and mission to help my clients move past what’s blocking them from reaching their full potential individually, and in their relationships. I invite you to begin your life transformative experience with Somatic Psychotherapies.
